Identity, ambition, deception
The starting point is the film: a psychological thriller starring Matt Damon, Jude Law and Gwyneth Paltrow, nominated for five Academy Awards and set in 1950s Italy.
Italy in the 1950s
Stills from the film as reference: whites and light blues, cream knitwear, tweed and navy suits, the tuxedo, white first-communion dresses and religious processions.
Six colours, six fabrics
From Arctic Silk to Midnight Onyx, through Desert Sand and Frozen Mist, and six fabrics: slub linen blend, fine tricot knit in Mako Giza cotton, seersucker, silk crêpe de Chine, cotton drill and tropical virgin-wool fresco.
Five costumes for women, five for men
Illustrations on kraft paper: flutter-sleeve blouses, waistcoats, a navy blazer, a strapless gown and a corset with balloon sleeves; for the men, cropped jackets, a cable-knit cardigan, light-blue shirts and wide trousers.
Each costume, front and back
For each of the ten costumes: the illustration, the chosen fabrics and the technical drawing of the key garment, front and back.
